English Teaching Assistant for 2024/25

Hello! My name is Eliza Jackson-Wald and I am an English Teaching Assistant for the 2024-2025 school year at St. Ursula’s and HAK 1. I am from Cary, North Carolina in the United States — a suburb of our capital, Raleigh — and I am a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Art in Medical Anthropology and pursued a minor in German. Growing up speaking German in the US, I was eager to spend time living in a German-speaking country after graduating from university. I have also always enjoyed teaching and have worked with kids and teens in a number of jobs, from teaching swim lessons, to tutoring economics, to coaching ice skating, to camp counseling. These desires inspired me to apply for the English Teaching Assistant program, administered by Fulbright Austria. I am excited to spend this school year sharing my experiences with the students of St. Ursula’s and HAK 1 and encouraging everyone to speak more English! After I finish my position in Klagenfurt, I plan to pursue graduate studies in Economics.
